Experience
With more than 15 years of working in global humanitarian development; an MA in African Studies; and MPH in International Public Health; and a PhD in International law to be completed in 2024, M-J has developed a keen understanding of how to build humane and just environments for women around the world, blending 21st-century feminist ideals with nuanced understanding and respect for Arab & Muslim cultures.

A former international humanitarian aid worker, specializing in gender-based violence for refugees and vulnerable populations, M-J has worked for major global NGOs such as The International Rescue Committee and the US Refugee Resettlement Program. She spent more than six years as a grants advisor for The Pollination Project, evaluating and delegating funding to entrepreneurial and humanitarian programming around the world. She has spent 15 years in support of women’s empowerment and humanitarian programs throughout NYC, Sub-Saharan Africa, and The Middle East.
